Description

Guava, also called lemon guava, is a popular tropical fruit that grows in many tropical and subtropical regions. Originating in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America, this fruit flourishes in warm climates. On our farm, we grow “white” guavas, which boast sweet, off-white flesh and fewer seeds. Guavas are available from early spring through winter.

The most captivating feature of a guava is its fragrance—a vibrant burst of tropical aromas. The flesh stands out among fruits, with a texture blending the firmness of a banana and the juiciness of an apple. Tiny edible seeds dot the core. The flavor mirrors its scent but with more subtlety, carrying hints of pineapple, papaya, banana, and lemon.

Guavas taste delicious and pack a nutrient-rich punch. This tropical fruit is low in calories, high in fiber, and makes a great addition to a healthy diet. Notably, guavas rank among the richest sources of vitamin C. Their high fiber and low calorie content may help you feel full and support weight loss. Additionally, the abundance of antioxidants and vitamins in guavas can help slow skin aging, as studies confirm.

Though guava is a fruit, its culinary versatility knows no bounds. You can enjoy guavas whole and fresh or use them in sweet and savory dishes, whether raw, cooked, hot, or cold.
