The Indian Runner duck is a favorite breed of many people. It is a lightweight duck which matures at about 4 -4 1/2 lbs for the drake and 3 1/2 – 4 lbs for the hen duck. The noted feature is a long and sleek body with an upright carriage. They are a very good egg laying variety with the Fawn and White Runner being the most popular color of duck. They are native to Malaysia and this duck does not waddle they run. Admitted into the American Standard of Perfection in 1898. They are very active and constantly search for vegetation and insects to eat. They have a strong flock instinct and startle easily.
